Coffee grounds contain several substances that promote healthy plant growth. They contain nitrogen, tannic acids and other nutrients. Acid-loving plants especially respond to coffee grounds and coffee. If you need a large supply of used coffee grounds, visit your local Starbucks coffee house or Tim Hortons. Most Starbucks and timmys outlets will give you their used coffee grounds for free. Coffee-ground mulch will help reduce the ravages of slugs and snails. Use your coffee grounds to mulch plants that slugs love to feast on, such as hostas, ligularias and lilies. Coffee-ground mulch will help promote healthy growth in daffodils and other spring bulbs as well.the reputed benefit of tannin, tea can be particularly good for those with hard water (high in salts). Hard water salt can accumulate in plant soil, eventually leading to sunburn, damage, and eventually death. If you can see white accumulations on the edge of the pot and on top of the soil, your plant may be suffering. Some plants (such as spider plants) have a very low salt tolerance, and may be candidates for the occasional cup of tea regardless of the hardness of the water. Check your pots for rime, and administer tea judiciously. The reputed benefit of tannin, tea can be particularly good for those with hard water (high in salts). Great ideas! My purple kiwi is getting hit hard by slugs so now I have an easy solution since I enjoy coffee too much! Thanks!
