What do you recommend for a nice beautiful container plant that will last a long time? I love color or unique plants or flowers.

Have you thought about Torenia. It comes in many colors and blooms from spring to the first frost kills it. It is a wonderful plant.

Hi there fellow container gardeners,

As you live in lovely, warm Florida here are some suggestions that would grow very well in your area.

- Gardenias, Geraniums, Fuschias, Impatiens, Petunias, Pansies and Chrysanthemums.

After the plants have finished flowering, don't forget to cut them back, give them a handful of fertiliser and a good watering and you'll get a great crop of new buds and flowers. By pruning the plants regularly you can keep them flowering beautifully for ages.

Have fun gardening and best wishes from Anney Keogh

Calibrachoa (Millions of Bells)
Mimi you must have seen these. They come tons of colors and grow fast. And they will last until frost.

I also love Million Bells. In the picture the Million Bells are Red and the Torenia is purple. Both do good with partial sun, which I have and stay blooming strong till frost.
I bought one in Red, Orange, Purple and Hot Pink.

Jodamiss,
Since you are in florida, alot of annuals will not do well all summer, especially if they are in the hot sun all day. And whatever you plant make sure you water everyday!! I have found that mixing tropicals and annuals in containers look wonderful and if the annuals start looking bad, you can pop in something else in there place. Colocasias look wonderful with ferns and impatiens. Bromeliads, ferns and inpatiens. Cannas, purple fountain grass, and marigolds. Varigated ginger looks awesome in a container even by itself. Caladiums and ferns. Caladiums and impatiens. Ferns, spiderplants, and impatiens. Salvia and marigolds. Victoria blue salvia, dwarf fountain grass, and orange marigolds or millions bells. Stromanthe is beautiful in pots, but likes shade also. I could go on and on. I love containers.
