What would be a good vegetable or fruit for container planting?

I am not an expert, but here, in my country we use to plant small tomatoes or peppers.

We're trying the following this year- Onions, carrots, potatoes, strawberries, tomatoes, and mini pumpkins. We've found lots of information online about container gardening all of these except for the pumpkins. We did successfully grow strawberries last year in a container, but all the others are new for us. This site has a good container size chart on it (scroll to the bottom).

Beans or peas, maybe? And I know they have patio blueberries that can be grown in containers. I'm thinking of getting a couple myself.

Many herbs thrive in containers. I've had success with tomatoes, lettuce, spinach and radishes.
