Unknown pest on Holly shrubs

Author Message   Azemerov  Posted on Friday, March 28, 2008 - 03:39 pm EST :    I'm living in Dallas, Texas. This spring I found a lot of small (1-2 mm) white lumps on my holly leaves. They can be easily removed. When smashed they produce brown juce (almost as old blood). Does anybody know what it could be? I was thinking maybe bug eggs but I would think those would be under the leaves. Otherwise it could be a form of soft scale or mealy bug. Duckwatcher - Northern California, Zone "9b"
