These bugs are in swarms at my son in laws house ... on the trees and in between the rocks on the rock wall. I know I've seen them identified some where but can't find it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Those are the nymphs. The adult looks like this. Not such a good picture but he wouldn't stand still for his pic. This was taken in late winter:

Thanks for the ID Jim. I have found a few sites that tell about them and passed this info on to my SIL. Here is also a photo I took of the adult bug.

http://geewa.notlong.com Information about the Box Elder Bug. 13 September 2007. I encountered this bug at a friends place near Long Point near Lake Erie. I didn't know what it was called until I saw this thread. The sheer number of the bugs was astonishing. They were all around my friend's house and in the immediate vicinity. Here are pictures taken 13 September 2007 http://uwahn.notlong.com http://www.durgan.org/Blog/Durgan.html

Yes! those most CERTAINLY are Box Elder Bugs. They will multiply like crazy. I know of from what I speak. They don;t seem to harm anything, They just crawl all over the place. Baking in the hot sun. Went I moved, they even came along!!!!!!! ( not to here) I used to get them something awful each summer. My street had a hand full of box elder trees. They live in that tree when they are not infesting everything at your home. Bet I had 10 thousand of them if I had one. SO GLAD I DO NOT ANY MORE> !
