My daughter was bringing me an orchid from her sister, but left it in her car overnight the first week of December. The temp went down past freezing. She brought it to me the next day, along with many apologies. It had a long stem with a bud on it, and the entire stem died back along with two leaves and some of the outside roots that ran over the lid of the pot. However, two stems are still green except for the tips. I have been watering it since that first week of December, and those two leaves are still green. I've seen no more roots or new growth. Does anyone in this forum think this orchid may come back?

It may well, but it will take some time. I would not try to force it excessively until it shows some growth.

Mark, do you have any suggestions about how long I should wait before discarding the plant? I have nursed it for three months now, and certainly don't mind but I don't know if I'm just spinning my wheels.

I guess it may take up to a year. The problem is that this type of orchid don't often put out side shoots, and it takes it time to make that jump.

OK, I guess it's a waiting game for this one (and for me, aargh). Thank you very much, Mark.
