I don't have much skill growing orchids but I did get this to bloom for me. This is its first flower. Two more followed. Stanhopea insignis x tigrina 'BT'

Steve, that is a fabulous flower. I've not grown this variety. Are they difficult to get to bloom?

From what I hear they like a temperature differential between day and night. Something that happens naturally for me here in southern CA. I grow them outside with fairly low humidity and bright shade. Seems like a little early or late sun might help too. Other than that it gets the same amount of neglect as my other non-blooming orchids. I occasionally remember to fertilize every week and water when it gets dry.

is this hybrid as scented as some of the other Stanhopea species? I had one flower a long time ago, and it was beautifully scented of vanilla
