Thanks for the updates Ej. The server issues must be affecting both the albums and the regular Garden Buddies site, as I see few things not working. I hope things work out okay.

OK, now I understand why my album is missing. Should we plan on not having this in the future? Just wanting to know if I need to start up a service elsewhere on the web.

Thanks so much for keeping this going.

I hope you don't have to delete my album, but if you do, please go ahead.

PLEASE DELETE the rest of my website, www.valia.gardenbuddies.com, when you have time. I don't plan to use it any more. I was receiving about 800 e-mails a day there, some of them with large video clips attached, and over 700 of them spam. I tried to disable the e-mail function but couldn't access the admin page.

Ej,
I just want to say thank you for having provided the albums for us all this time. I know very well all the time and effort this all takes. I appreciate every second of your time spent in creating the extra benefit of the albums for us here at GB. I also realize that times change due to finances and other directions our lives take. So if you are no longer able to offer the albums that is fine. I do hope that you will be able to keep the Garden Buddies forums up and running. It is a nice place to chat with others about our love of gardending and other things. Kind of gives us kindred spirits a home base.

As it is the beginning of a New Year what would be a more appropriate time than to come up with a new pricing structure for those still wanting albums?

I realize that not everyone wants them, but I have always found it great.

So Ej, if you have researched the cost involved to get a server to support the albums, maybe now would be a good time to update with info.

This does not mean that we should take away the donation button, every bit helps to keep the site up and running. I was thinking this would be an additional charge for those who like their albums.

By the way, do you know that the donation progress for 2008 has different amounts. Here it says $1630 but in the cyclamen forum it shows less?????

If I can't link to my albums on Gardenbuddies, I will have to reconsider how useful I can be on other websites. Without photos, it is very difficult to teach anything online.

I share here, because I appreciate the wonderful album space. I made a donation, because I wanted to show appreciation for that space for photos. If I lose that space, I am sure that I will stop posting, where I cannot link to those albums. Then, I am sure that my participation online will drop to almost nothing.

Hanford Rose, there are some wonderful photo sites your could utilize. I've used the freebies like Picturetrail and Photobucket, but finally settled on Smugmug. I signed up when the annual fee was $30 and that's what I'm charged every year, even though the annual fee has risen. Pbase is another site that gets great reviews. I don't know the cost. If you do a lot of photo-sharing it might be worth the investment. The service EJ has provided here, for I don't know how long, is unheard of nowadays. It's no wonder he's running into financial difficulties.

Thanks for bringing back my albums, EJ.

Now, one more question...

How come I can't copy my photos from my albums and post my them on other sites like I did in the past? The photos come up as an empty box with the name only, when I attempted to paste them on the Rose Lovers Forum over at Delphi.

I link from my albums at Gardenbuddies to that forum and have lead many people to GB with those photo links. Now, I don't know how to do that.

Each time a image is shown off site it opens a apache connections. Too many connections is what crashed the server before. I have taken steps to help with this with one being to block outside connections. I have added most of the albums back over the last few days. Lets see what happens over the next few days and if all goes well I will add permissions to users albums as needed.

I didn't realize the connections to other sites was part of the problem. I will wait to see what you decide to do. I sure hope that you will be able reestablish the links; but I will understand, if you decide that can no longer make those kind of connections.

I made a donation to help with this forum; and I would be willing to donate a bit more, if it will open those links again. Just let me know.

You can block mine to other sites Ej. I can post a link or the photo url so folks can check by going to the album site if they want to see the photo. I think that would help. I know I have a lot of photos on old posts that don't need to be there.

Even on the old posts... can't someone that really wants to see the pic copy the url from the properties, paste it in the address bar and still see it?

I just deleted a bunch of old pictures and even some albums to help with the amount of linking that may occur, when my albums connect back to Rose Lovers.

I am hoping this will help in some small way. I will also be more careful in the future about making posts that are linked to my albums on GB. I don't want to lose the linking potential that I have had with my GB albums due to over use.

That is the least that I can do.
