I, recently, installed new anti-virus software (Norton Internet Security 2008). After doing this, I could no longer view any threads, or post to Garden Buddies. I could get onto the site, and I could get a forum, but when I clicked on any thread, it started out saying, "Loading Page...,etc.", but when it got to, "2 items remaining...", it stopped, and my cursor turned into an hourglass. I couldn't click on a thread, or scroll down. When I tried to close the page, I got, "Program not responding...", and I had to click, "End Now" to get out of it. I notice, when the page stopped loading, with the 2 items remaining, it said something about Pay Pal, and donate.
I figured the donation box had something to do with it. (I did not have a problem on any other websites, where there are no donation boxes) I went to Programs, and clicked on Norton and, under Transaction Security, they have Phishing Protection. When I clicked on that, it said, "Protects against fraudulent websites." I guess Norton thinks the donation box is a fraudulent website, because when I turned Phishing Protection off, everything worked fine again.

Just one sentence to that, John. I had Norton protection when we got our computer new (2005) , paid $ 50 for the software and it did not do a thing for me. I since monitored what other people say and think about Norton Virus protection and have not heard very many good things from them. Sorry, I said more then just one sentence.

I got rid of Norton years ago...it conflicted with so many things. I do like McAfee.

John can you set it to allow this website but keep your anti phishing turned on? I dumped Norton also. switched to Trend Micro.

When I got my first computer, Norton was on it. Every year, one of the stores, on the day after our Thanksgiving, (Nov.) had it on sale with a big rebate. There was also a second rebate for returning users. After these, I ended up paying only the sales tax. (About $7.00) I never got a virus. The only problem I had was, once, when uninstalling the old version prior to putting the new one on, it was difficult to get every last little remnant out. I also have a fax program, made by the same company, and some files are shared. It was a little tricky getting all of the old version out, without messing up the fax. This year, the store didn't have it on sale. A couple of weeks later, I bought it on line, for a final price, after rebates, of $3.95, with free shipping, and no tax. Yes, Zack, I'm pretty sure there is a way to set it up to allow this site. I'll just have to talk to my wife, so I don't mess up any of the sites she goes to.
