Wow do we have a problem with spam emails or something? In 5 plus years I've never seen two people (really not even one) ask to be removed from the site.

I don't think it's all spam-related. Recently, it has been "threads gone bad" via perception/misinterpretation, off-topic discussion, and strong opinions.

Greg that surprises me.. If some people become disenchanted~ It is normal. Surely we have seen this in the past.. Let's just let it go..Frankly it is boring and unpleasant to discuss things like this on a Garden etc forum..Whatever happened is past..Move on~ What happened to Controversial Topics? If people wish to discuss unpleasantries..go somewhere private. This just all sounds like gossip to me and I find it distasteful. Leave well enough alone..There are 5000 GBs..you can't please everyone. All the time. And begging doesn't help.. WE have had that too.. Come on..It's Spring..let's just make the best of our wonderful wonderful forum. Please.

Monique, The look on Oy's face matches your exact mood in your response... I just had to laugh. Great response, btw. I'd say a 5 response.

That was my thought, too, Tanya. Don't tell me we're getting into a "Controversial Subject" in the "Report Site Problems and Fixes" Forum! I would like to know, though, if it's a problem resulting from unwelcome e-mail of some kind. If that's not the case, then it's none of my business, except that I especially hate to lose Lovinlife. I don't know you, Barbara, but I'm sure you'll be missed as well. If people have signed up for the "Social Gallery", for example, I can see that they might be receiving more e-mails than they want. I've set up my folders so that all my GB topics go right into a separate folder, and that helps. Anne

I just never turned on the emails so I don't get any for new posts. When I want I just come here and see what's new. Works for me. It would be sad if they left because they were offended some how though. I don't visit every forum but I can't recall every seeing ANYONE posting something nasty or offensive. Sometimes there's a difference of opinion on a subject but I sort of like that. It's a good way to learn about new things.

I find it odd that the original poster of this thread only joined the same day of the request for removal. Perhaps this poster would be more comfortable if their email was turned off and be able to stay and enjoy our site. Go into profile and edit your settings.

I remember a year or two ago someone from the clematis world joined up and shortly after left, with a similar (irate) request to be struck from the roll. It seems he had been bombarded with e-mails on every topic, the result of having inadvertently set his profile to do that. He assumed this was the way the forum is run, but unfortunately was gone before the misunderstanding could be cleared up. I think this may be something similar.

I read new posts by clicking Topics or New Messages. Nothing is emailed. No idea what happened with Barbara. I do think when someone posts an “exit” thread it’s only natural that curiosity is piqued. I witnessed one exchange here with Gloria about photos and still don’t get it. I couldn’t care less how many photos someone posts, where they post them, or if they post them at all. I enjoy the exchange of info and chat. Pictures are lagniappe.

Ooh, now see there, Cindy, I just learned a new word! Lagniappe, (pronounced: lan yap), a small gift to a customer by a merchant after a purchase; bonus; gratuity or tip; unexpected or indirect benefit. I like it.
