Is it just me or has GB been slow and offline lately? I used to get posts via email within about ten or twenty minutes, but now I get them two or three hours after the posts have been made, sometimes I don't get them at all, and I get a lot of them out of order (which makes for some very bizarre reading). So, I try to visit the site instead of checking my emails, but it is soooo slow, if it is even up and running at all. Yesterday was really bad.

Yesterday there was a "network" problem that affected several sites hosted by the people that host GardenBuddies. But that was fixed reasonably quickly. I've also noticed that things are slow going today, maybe it's still part of yesterday's problem. If it doesn't improve, we'll ask.

I'm so new I've still got similac on my breath and being a fng, I didn't want to say anything. since you mention it... yeah GB tends to be a dog more times than not. In fact I was trying to respond and upload a couple of pics yesterday and it was such pig I just x'd out of everything, shutdown and went back to painting.

Yesterday, it was still taking three hours for me to get emails after the messages had been posted. It was also taking forever for the site to load and it was even worse when I was trying to post anything myself. I remember one short post in particular. I had typed five words and it took forever to get to the preview page. I thought maybe the site had bombed out, but then it showed me the preview. Then it took a really long time for the site to do its thing when I hit the post message button. I wondered if this has anything to do with the whole planet doing their online holiday shopping now and swamping all of the servers. I don't remember it being this bad for me back before Thanksgiving.

I looked at my emails and I haven't received any GB posts in my email since about 3 AM (the posts were made at midnight last night). I know there have been posts to GB since midnight because I just found one on the site and posted a reply to it (which again took so long that I once more thought maybe the site had gone down). Weird!

Another interesting observation... I decided to skip the message preview on that message I just wrote above and it posted almost immediately.

I should rephrase that... The post was made prior to midnight, but I never received it in my emails. I expect it should have shown up around 9:30 PM since it was posted around 6:30 PM. (I just found it on the site this morning and have it in my head that the post should have shown up in my emails since midnight. The other weird thing is that I received some posts around 3 AM-ish mixed together with posts that were made way earlier in the day. That could just be my email messing up, but I have been testing it out lately to see if it is receiving email in a timely manner and it seems to be doing just fine when I test it.)

Could the weather across North America have anything to do with it? I know we don't get our satellite t.v. stuff when it's stormy, and boy! has it been stormy!!!

I wondered about that, too. When it rains, we have all sorts of phone and Internet problems. It has snowed some lately, so maybe that was part of it. Posting is intermittently going much better for me at the moment.

well this really bites... Now that the screen has finally loaded (yesterday afternoon became a waste of time), neither the NEW messages or the 1/3 button works. Insult to injury - I can't remember where I started a thread. Oh well, perhaps I should 'work' instead of fool around in here. :(

That sounds like what I feel like sometimes. The "NEW" markers appear when I visit the site, but when I close the site (because I can't wait forever) and haven't read everything that was marked as "NEW", the next time I come back I lose track of where I was because the last batch of "NEW" markers has disappeared. I know I'm missing posts because of that. (So no offense meant to anyone I accidentally overlook! I'll hopefully catch up eventually.).

The site was closed down this morning for updates. About 2 hours in all. I cannot get on 'New Messages' at all now. I think they must have disabled it.

What you can do if you've already used up New Messages tab but didn't actually get to read them, is use the 1|3 underneath topics. The 1 will bring back everything posted in the previous day I believe.

It won't let me go on that either. Having just gone right across the top of the board I cannot get on Buddies, map, birthdays, search or chat. I was able to get on all of these before. Seems to have changed since they updated it this morning. Have you tried it DJ?
