Morning EJ..... I took Mara's advice and began looking at forums I've never opened before. In "Crafts and Hobbies" I found a lot of good posts about the possible store. An outlet for those who want to sell their art or craft? I'm ALL for that...... How is it coming? I'm sure it's a "bear" putting a e-commerce site together....even for someone well versed in code-writing and website creation. Is there now [I realize I'm hopelessly behind in aspects of this whole site] anywhere I can see the gardenbuddy store?

Joseph funny and sad you should ask. The store was always meant to offset my monthly costs. But lack of interest after I completed the store placed it on hold. I do appreciate you asking. Thanks

ej i have an idea, what if you had a store forum that we could list things we want to sell? it could be on the honor system, anything we list that sells we send you a %? i have a camera i want to sell, and other things i am sure, i would love to make a post and then send you a % if they sell. any thoughts on this? it would require no extra maintenance on your behalf, just an extra forum and maybe a little extra cash going towards gbs.

Hmm, while I like the idea very much, I wonder if it would attract lots of spam and/or commercial posts? I don't know that doing this in a forum that would not really be regulated would be the best idea. EJ could end up having to spend all his time weeding out junk posts in a forum.

This discussion would not even be neccessary if all the regulars who have not made a donation did so. Just a thought.

Jain we can give it a try. It is easy enough to set up. Greg does bring up a good point but I have a solution to restrict spam. We will need a description and maybe rules and directions to be posted on the forum page. What would you suggest?

ej maybe call the forum YOUR STORE. perhaps the intro could be... this forum is for members to sell items they think gardenbuddies may be interested in buying. your items may be new or used, just post a description, picture, price, any noteworthy info you think will help you sell your item, incl. the shipping charges, what countries you would be willing to sell to, and your return policy. all sellers will pay a set 5% [?] fee to gardenbuddies upon the successful sale of said items. if your item has sold, be sure and place an update for future shoppers to read in your thread. all payments are due within one week of sale and payments shall be mailed to: Gardenbuddies.com 4195 Chino Hills Pkwy. Box 107 Chino Hills, Ca 91709 PLEASE NOTE: Any form of UNAUTHORIZED ADVERTISING, such as LINKS OR URL's to any website, EMAIL ADDRESSES, including your personal email address, or PHONE NUMBERS are NOT ALLOWED in your items descriptions.

ej not sure what % rate you want to charge, i think 5-10% sounds good, but auction houses i think charge around 6%, but the diff is here you are trying to create a tad bit of revenue for you to offset some of the monthly costs.

Sounds good so far. you also have to decide "WHO" pays the buyers fee. SOME Auctions here for instance have a 10-20% buyers preminum . on top of the cost of the item they have bought.. plus there is shipping costs and insurances they would have to pay. Plus, you have buyers remorse. What if after someone buys it and gets it they dont want it. What happens to the $ given to Ej.

EJ, how about a spring or fall plant/seed sale to help. Anyone that has extra plants or seeds they could donate them. Each person could list their plants/seeds, when lister receives payment, person would then send in the amount it was bought for to Gardenbuddies. I know I going to have lots of extras in the future, not too many things right now though. Just a thought.
