How do you know if your anniversary as a supporting member of gardenbuddies is up or about to expire. Do we still get e-mail reminders? I thought we used to have an area that showed this info. Anyone know?

The email reminders were stopped at EJ's request. The anniversary calender was removed a long time ago.

Valia and I have been working on this but so far have no solutions. We had hoped to come up with a place where each gardenbuddy had a place to go to find out when the anniversary of their contribution was, or when it's time to renew their web space. We are trying to be sensitive to Ej's wishes and we're trying to not create a lot more work, and definitely not any more expense. Any ideas?

Oh, I didn't know that. I was wondering the same thing but thought I would get an email at the appropriate time. Will galleries not be deleted after the anniversary? I wonder if that information can't somehow be made part of the user profile for supporting members?

I have my date in my head.. I am amazed he does this out of kindness..Actually..no..I know he is kind.. But I just don't get why we don't all contribute..something.

One suggestion was that we use our birthdays as an anniversary day, and give GardenBuddies a birthday present.

Well, Monique, you memory is better than mine. In searching through some old e-mails I think it was December. How do you continue supporting and keep your albums up if there is no way to check? Could it be a part of your profile so when you go into "edit my profile" it would show? Or maybe the birthday idea is good. Any suggestions? I certainly want to contribute and continue to support gardenbuddies but don't want to add to Ej's burden.

I just became a supporting member as of Saturday although I haven't had any feedback yet. It might be even simpler if everyone had the same anniversary, like the 1st January maybe. A lot of garden societies do that. Then certain allowances could be made for joining late in the calendar year.

Well, I think the "birthday-date" is a very good idea....... You don't forget your own birthday, do you????

I like that idea Anne. Like driver's licenses and my professional license. All renews on birthdays.
I like this idea as well but maybe not January since a lot of folks might be struggling with bills after the holidays. What about an April 1 date?

What would work best for Ej: having the contributions dribbling in all year (birthdays) or having them all arrive in April? Tell us, Ej.

Yes, I was wondering why not have a calendar year (or other standard 12 month period) membership. It could be pro-rated if people sign up part way through the year. This way a reminder could be posted in the forums once a year around the time of renewal for everyone.

I know when I sent my check in last August, my check didn't get cashed so I did contact E.J. about it. Apparently it's an account he doesn't have to go to often. :( I like the idea of April or date of E.J.'s choosing. Pro-rating as Greg mentioned would be good.

Maybe, too, there could be a standard, or at least suggested, contribution sum. It would be nice to know what the going rate it...

Diane, (Don't forget, I'll help you too). I think you Have come up with some solutions---as we discussed: Gardenbuddy membership a freewill Donation Renewed annually with friendly reminders in a Calendar format Renewed on GB Birthday If....EJ likes this. It sounds like the next step is waiting for feedback from EJ.

I'm sorry. Your right so I'll ask right now. How do you like being a grand parent? Now as far as the donations are concerned what would be the easiest for everyone involved would be to have a single date of renewal and a prorate for anyone who donates out of this date. The anniversary date doesn't matter to me. What ever works for everyone. Method of payment is always preferred when made through paypal but checks are okay also. I realized that renewal reminders were my fault and that is why no album has ever been taken offline. Sometimes the continued demand of seeing that tasks are fulfilled can be overwhelming. I'm not complaining but only letting you know why sometimes I am slow to respond. I have asked Nibbs, Valia, and Periwinkle for their help with donations and their ideas since they have volunteered to help out in the past. Hopefully this will make the transaction of renewal go smoothly.

I had the same question and now I know why I've had no response, EJ ;) I think it would be a good idea to have the same date for everyone - but I know that would leave a gap or overlap for some and perhaps the first of the year - right after the holidays could be a financial strain for some. A member's birthday might be a great anniversary date. Or - I'll throw out a suggestion - the first day of spring :)
