Am I correct in thinking that this is going to be conducted the way all our other forums are run? No, that isn't a criticism..... it's a question. If the answer is yes, does that mean I cannot write an article in Word... then simply paste it into the "box"? because I will have to format everything through our GB setup instead of Word? does that mean I'm limited to 5 images? I'm asking because it would be very nice to be able to write, format, insert photos... in short do everything in Word format......then paste that into our GB interface. I think the idea of others being able to post comments on the articles is terrific...... but I am concerned about formatting the article. My article is being worked on......in Word....as we speak........ I'll just wait on a reply to this before I post it.}

John, You would have to use the GB posting interface to post an article, just like we do here. You can copy and paste the text from Word to here. You are not limited to 5 images, you just can only upload 5 images at a time. Go ahead and upload more a second, third or more times. I don't see any good way of formatting an article off-line and simply uploading it to be posted. Perhaps EJ can weigh in on this. Maybe the software system does have this feature. It sure would be nice.

John..you will most probably just email the article to E.J. and he would then post it...Jeanne

Why make Ej do the work? I agree with Greg, I don't think it would be too hard to compose articles using the formatting tools the forum offers. I suppose you could make macros of the commands and use them in Word. When you copied the text here, the commands would presumably take effect.

Gardenfiend, I would like to be able to upload chapters or sections from my herb book for people to see, either when it is relevant to a topic or in the classifieds. At the moment it is just too much of a headache to try using the forum formatting, and the end result would not reflect the 12 years or so I have put into composing it! The recipes forum might appreciate it too, fractions and such don't work well. I don't know whether anything like this can be done easily, but it is worth an ask!

Your layout of text can be copied to the forum by using the / pre{ formatting tag. You will have to insert any photos. You can view an example of a article posted in a forum at http://www.gardenbuddies.com/forum/read.php?file=/1077742/1093385.html Excuse th broken links.

Thanks EJ, that sounds like it should make things easier. I searched the formatting section of the help, but can find no mention of a 'pre{' formatting tag. Are there instructions somewhere for how to use it?

This is possible:
| 1/2 | teaspoon | sugar | | 2 | tablespoons | chocolate | or this:
| 1/2 | teaspoon | sugar | | 2 | tablespoons | chocolate | or this:
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 2 tablespoons chocolate
not great, but readable. Apparently spreadsheets can be imported as tables, but I haven't tried
