It is a genus with only seasonal interest, but it appears we have some enthusiastic and even some expert growers. Maybe a specialised forum would attract more? What is the general opinion? I am hesitant about starting any new forums, but this just might be as successful as the cyclamen forum. Maybe...

Mara I would love it. If we are getting crazy with our forums, I think we could add this and put annuals and perennials back together. As an alternate, we could think of combining Epimediums with ferns?

Terry, I agree about annuals and perennials going back together. But I don't see Epimediums with ferns. I think they have too little in common, both botanically and horticulturally.

Bamboo is a grass. Why not put it there?

Putting perennials and annuals together is something I suggested a while back, and frankly I'd like to have bamboo and grasses folded in there as well, unless the grasses forum (is there one?) is more active than I know. Frankly, a single general plant forum like this I think will attract more posts for people, especially newer members, who aren't sure where to post their echinacea picture or their panicum question when they see so little traffic. The perennials/annuals forum got more traffic than the current perennials because I think people were more certain that it was the "correct" place to post. On the other hand, I do think there is enough interest in epimediums to warrant its own forum.

Well, I guess the four of us all are pretty much on the same page here-but maybe the rest are happy with the division into separate forums.

Mike, I agree with you completely that it would be better to have a general plant forum for perennials, annuals, bulbs and yes, I agree, even grasses. I also think we could do away with most of the individual ones, only keeping those that have attracted specialists. Later perhaps other specialised forums could be peeled off, if a real need is perceived. I think you are right that more people would post there, adding interesting individual threads. At the moment the Garden forum is doing that job to some extent, but it really shouldn't be used for showcasing a particular plant. IMHO, anyway.
