I was wondering if the Garden Gallery will ever be archived, or have I missed it somehow? I was very disappointed when a popular thread dropped off. Thanks

Leslie there are no funds at the moment for the additional server space that would be required to archive the gallery. I'm still wonder what to do when are server reaches capacity in one year. Do we drop other archives? And if so which ones? Thanks

Sad to hear that Ej but understandable. We have so many members, but unfortunately not enough paid members. Maybe we could mention that with the rising membership and the amount of posting, we are going to hit a max level and we will be loosing some of the archived forums and some great information.

I have been wanting to join for some time, but didn't thoroughly understand the details and I really don't need web space right now but...I read it all over this morning in hopes to understand it a little more and I sent my membership $ this morning :)

Lisa, I understand what you mean, I found it confusing too. I just sent the minimum and then was able to add my albums which for me was a plus (challenged with things like that!). Now if just a few more members would become contributing members, we would make life easier for Ej and we'd all reap the benefits.

Denise, it is my pleasure. I have begun using this site more & more (in case you all haven't noticed!) This site is quickly becoming like a second family to me :)
Terry, I know what you mean. Sometimes I feel so stupid. I used to roll my eyes at my mom for not being technologically inclined. I think I'm getting my payback for that, lol.

Thank you, Lisa and Gloria! I'm wondering if you think it would be a good idea to add a line in the sign up page, on the top, that would let new members know that just contributing to the site is an option, and that getting the web space is not compulsory. Can I suggest something like under the title 'How to Sign Up For Your Own Gardenbuddies Web Space and Photo Album' and then below, in brackets (or how to support gardenbuddies with a contribution/donation). I'm thinking that we may have more response with a contribution suggestion than with the offer of web space. Perhaps once a new member has been here for a little while he/she may be more interested in having an album. When I click on the link to the form for donation only, I only see File Not Found. Perhaps we need to revisit this.

Diane, I think that is a great idea and we may get more members donating. Even if we get $5 or $10 from some members it would help. When I renewed my membership this year,I wrote a note to designate part of my donation as just a "thank you" not to be more album space, hopefully that happened. I could not figure out how to just do a donation.

I so agree, Terry, that even a donation of $5 or $10 would help so much, and if the form was clearer, I'm sure we'd have more response.

Hey guys. I'm glad my question got this conversation going. I think many of us haven't realized how important contributions are. I, too, tried to figure out how much to send and am confused. I don't think I'm interested in the Web space right now, so am I correct in assuming a donation of $10.00 or $20.00 is okay? I do not get paid but once a month, but I absolutely promise to send my $ in when I get paid on the last day of the month. I love Gardenbuddies, and I have not bought too many garden magazines since I started coming here. Gardenbuddies gardens are so much more real to me!

This is a very good suggestion Nibbs! All GardenBuddies don't want to have photo albums and/or web space and think it is only the Buddies with photoalbums who need to donate. But we contribute because we want to help with the costs so we can continue having GardenBuddies on the web, don't we? It is very easy to misunderstand......

Hey Leslie: That's great that you'll make a donation. It seems that it is time to clarify that you do not have to buy web space; donations are appreciated. It does need to be made clearer. I usually send $25.00/year and I wish I had more to donate. It's worth it!
