Such a fun, fun thread... sure glad you threw this party, Kathleen! Suzy, so sorry the stew wasn't great, but it LOOKS great! Jain, Love your travelogue! Wonderful pics! The pics of you and Scott, so cute and cute! thank you for taking us to Ireland for St. Patrick's Day! Marie, feel better soon... at least it's the right day to feel green. Oh, Mary, I wish I were your friend (in the real world). Such a beautiful lunch you shared with your friend. Can't wait to see tonight's pics! Greg, good for you! Debbie, pretty, pretty table! Bet you're enjoying the evening with your son and GF. Looking forward to seeing the rest of your pics. Seil, I really like how the lace tablecloth looks with the liner underneath. Looks so nice with the dish combination. Great that you could share your wonderful meal with extended family. Marigene, those cupcakes look so delicious! You really are talented with the icing. I would love one of those right now! Cynthia, your corned beef dinner turned out great. The cookies are sweet...love the teddy bears! I looked for green snoballs at the grocery today... sounds like your daughter did well with the alternative! Kathleen, BEAU, BEAU, BEAU!! Bravo! It all looks so good and your table is just lovely, as I expected it would be! Hope all is well with you. I really love your tablecloth... and the brownies are super! Carol, your dinner looks so good too! (Thanks for the corned beef recipe...we liked it!) Wow, that's a GREEN plate! Marigene, YUM... enjoy your leftovers...we'll have leftovers tomorrow too! Debbie, your dinner looks like a success...you sure do it up right! It's all beautiful! And you posted after all that drinking! Way to go, girl! Nice that your Mother joined you too! DH and I enjoyed our St. Pat's meal. Started celebrating early... I had a bow waiting at DH's place at the table for breakfast this morning...
I remembered this pinky ring that I bought in Ireland and thought it was appropriate for the day.
Today is all about green...
This morning, I made shamrock rolls...they look a little funky!
Time for dinner...
Menu~ Carol's Glazed Corned Beef (loved it!) Potato and Cabbage Bundles (very good, I'm sure Monique's were much prettier!) Slieve Na Mbam Carrots (really delicious! even if it doesn't look so good!)
I hadn't planned on having dessert, but had some blackberries I needed to use and puff pastry... blackberry bundles!

So many pretty pics!!! And yummy hearty food too. Tonights dinner was way better than last night's. So good that I would like to go snitch a spoonful of the leftovers....even though I'm stuffed!! Jain, love your Ireland pics. I would love to visit one day. You both look so cute. Susan thanks for the recipe. Sounds delish. Marie, sorry you're still feeling green...at least you are the right color for the day! I have something to show you on the dish thread. You are going to laugh. Mary you have set a stunning table yet again. I love the little glass shamrocks spread about. Your salad looks so fresh. Greg looking forward to your makeup dinner. Debbie, looking good. I really need those plates. I've probably missed out. Your salad look so good. I like what you did with the sprinkles on the dessert! Pretty front door. Seil your meal looks great and your table to pretty. I bet your visitors felt special. Marigene, the cupcakes and boiled dinner look great! I was too lazy to do different colored icing for my cupcakes! Cynthia your plate looks wonderful as well. I could just reach out a pluck one of those potatoes off your plate in a heartbeat. Cute snickerdoodles (and bodyguards)!! And Kathleen...our lovely hostess. Your table certainly doesn't disappoint. I would love to have a stash like you one day. You know how to celebrate everything! You corned beef looks prettier than mine :-) Thank you for the party idea...it's been fun. Carol, for being busy you did good. I wanted to cook my beef in the dinner but wanted it for the cheesecake. Guess I need a double oven! Jayne Your meal looks wonderful. You will have to post the carrots..especially with a name like that. I love all of your little touches. The bow is sweet. I tried to do pretty..and it was, but I do have a lot to learn. I did learn one thing..I don't have a lot of green things!! And the things I do have are..well...let's just say more homey than elegant. Still, it was a nice change from the ordinary and I went straight from St. Patrick's Day to an Easter table. Randy doesn't know what to think....
My table was a bit empty..I should have had flowers. But it did have a nice fresh look.
I "found" this pitcher that is from Randy's family. Of course he has no real clue from when or where.. He says..it was from the farm (his grandparents place).
Dinner was yum. Boiled Corned Beef, Colcannon..the leftovers that are tempting me and Irish Soda bread muffins.
I think I will have this for my breakfast tomorrow
And my start on "getting rid of the evidence". Way better like this than in the stew. The glass..I didn't pilfer it, but I think my brother did when we were there one year close to my birthday. He's into cheap gifts..hahaha.
Dessert is in the fridge. I'll post a pic later! Irish Cream Cheesecake..mmmmmm.

yes, Fiesta! Thanks. that was from when Daisy Martinez first had her show and she had all the colorful Fiestaware so I started buying 4 of each color, and stopped with 4 green, 4 cobalt and 4 peacock. I'm not so colorful :) but the greens came in handy!
LOL! Funny brother, Suzy! I have one from Pizza Uno :) I also had a collection of Fribble glasses from Friendly's years ago. It was the hot date place growing up, ice skating, then fries and a chocolate Fribble! Your table looks lovely! Very pretty pitcher! I love Colcannon! and the muffins. Perfect for a breakfast treat tomorrow. Lucky you! Looks great, Marigene! great menu, Debbie, and a gorgeous table! Beautiful! and even better because you got to share it with family :)
Lots of pretties, Jayne! Lots :) I love the shamrock plates, great looking table! and the Murano green, so nice! Glad you like the corned beef. Easy one! I would love a blackberry bundle. YUM! What's on the carrots? LOL, say the name of those carrots three times fast :)

And you did, Suzy! Your table looks festive and the pitcher is really pretty! Wouldn't it be nice to know all of the history of it? OMG, your cheesecake is awesome! I think you did a wonderful job on the decorating... and like Carol said, nice that the cracks lined up. Suzy and Carol... this is the recipe I used for the carrots... they really were good! http://www.cdkitchen.com/recipes/recs/340/Slieve-Na-Mbam-Carrots-Tradit1036 08.shtml

Well good sparkling morning! Where do I begin? To tell the story of how great a thread can be? To be sung to the tune of.. well you know.. Debbie!Even the front door is right up my alley..Very sweet and I do love your cellar! The wee shamrocks you and a few others had to decorate are so festive .. I vet everyone was happy to be sitting at your table.. Jayneh.. The Claddagh..I have always loved the meaning of that ring.I always thought it would make the best wedding ring.A beautiful symbol. Since my teens I have liked it.. Your Murano is appropriate all the time..they surely are treasures..all that and you leave today! One of my all time fav poems too.. I remember I translated it to put in a crad one yr for someone who was sad.. Not quite the same in French~ My rolls looked like yours..I promise! I would do them again..wouldyou? I have to say everyone's corned beef looks fanatstic..I should look for that cut when in the states.. I would have to eat it there..No meat crossings.. You have the pretty lacies too.. :)I spy..
It's simply beautifuller.
LOL I did too yesterday aft..took the bunnies and wreath out! All for the kids(Yeah right) Hey your squiggles are better than mine!! Wonderbar..what a great looking cheesecake! Jain..Party Pooper? I think not! S is so lucky! Imagine coming home to work every night w/ a full course meal and a tablescape? Your plates are so cute! And there's that corned beef again..One day for sure.. I am listening to James Taylor copying your recipe..Need to get a small bottle of Bailey's..:) Do you think this is enough filling for the hen pie? Mm not agood idea for the kids and M..It looks so good! Hope you had fun Kathleen!

It was a wonderful party, Monique, and I thank you for dedicating it to me. You all outdid yourself with beautiful posts.. Jayne and Monique, those cabbage bundles are on my list! I bought 6 corned beefs for the freezer, so I will try it. I have never seen one.. Jayne, thanks you for all your efforts, even though I am sure you have so much to do to get ready for Fla. And I love those shamrock plates!! And bundles for dessert, they look great! I wear my Claddagh ring everyday. In fact, the ring finger of the left hand is broken off. Lily tells me if I have it on wrong. If you are married, the heart should point to your heart... Susan, your dinner looks delicious! And everything looks so pretty. I didn't use my Waterford for the first time, kind of missed it! Thank you for coming! I am glad your Irish recipes were a hit.. Love all your little green touches, and your itty bitty butter dishes.. Marigene your dinner and cupcakes..delicious! I wish I had one, or two now. The liners?? I haven't seen those.. Cynthia, glad you made it to the party too. With all your extra duties with John, take out would have been fine. I love the bears and the Addi inspired display too! Seil, so glad you joined in, and glad you had fun with your family! Carol, what would a party be without you?? Thanks for sharing the recipes, too! Suzy, you're a magician, St Pat's to Easter in one night! It all looks delicious, and that cheesecake, wow. I love the pitcher, it is lovely. So, I thank you all again, it was a green day and a wonderful party!

Happy Day-After Everyone! Jayne, what a pretty celebration you made, your food and photography-- perfection, and I love when you share your beautiful collectibles with us. Your beautiful Murano art glass is breathtaking... just when I think we've seen them all, you delight the eyes with yet more gorgeous pieces. Stunning! And all this right before you leave for vacation ~ have a good, relaxing trip. You will be missed! Susan, your style just shines through in everything you do. What a beautiful presentation, and you make it appear so easy though we all know the work it takes to make it seem effortless. Marigene, It all looks delicious... oooh the cupcakes! Good job! Cynthia, (I probably should be posting this on the dish thread...) I have learned so much from you about Peggy Karr (missed the Sunday sale though.) Thank you for sharing your beautiful photos and knowledge... Thanks to you and Jain I caved and got my first piece a couple of weeks ago. :) I love the photo of little Addison and the huge round plate/platter--- priceless! Seil, I would love to be invited to your table, everything looks so good. Nice job! Debbie, you know how much I love your table setting and all of your accessory pieces. You have a special knack for making everything look so inviting and pleasing to the eye. Marie, I hope you are feeling better. I thought your tea-for-two with the shamrock plant was adorable. Suzy, great job! Oh the pitcher, it's beautiful. (I really enjoyed seeing your latest dish finds, too!) Your food looks delish, I wish I had one of your Irish Soda Bread muffins for breakfast this morning. Yum! Your Irish Cream Cheesecake looks positively decadent. (Pretty tablecoverings, too!) Carol, your Fiestaware really set the food off perfectly - so pretty! Jain, BEAU! Such a delightful setting, I wouldn't even need food to be happy, just to sit in your kitchen and admire your plates and beautiful flowers, the buttery daffodils are dreamy. Your dinner, and all all of the goodies look fabulous ~ icing on the cake/cookies! Thank you for sharing the recipe... copied and saved. :) Looks delish!
Monique, me too! :)
Ditto! Kathleen, our Irish Lass (actually Queen)~ Your table and food-- so elegant and appetizing. I love how you dress your bunny for the holiday. :) Leave it to you to finish up with the DARLING thank you cake! You are so inventive. :) I hope I didn't miss anyone. Sorry I'm so late posting mine... it was a late evening, I practically fell into bed after putting the last dish away. A little nibble before dinner:
Then some fresh pea soup.
And Monique's Salad! Soo good ~ thank you for the inspiration Monique, you are so clever. :)
A dinner companion. :)
And the main course was:
I was going to make Champ, but settled for mashed potatoes, dilled carrots, & Ruth Chris' recipe for Creamed Spinach. And I didn't get around to making Soda Bread. *sigh* Dessert is still in the camera! Cheers everyone ~ It was FUN partying with you all.
Thank you Kathleen for inviting us.

Good morning Kathleen, I said it before but in my opinion this is the brightest and cheeriest thread ever and what a lovely hostess you have been. Your table setting is exquisite. I love the presentation of the breads and the corned beef. THANK YOU for the lovely brownies. Carol, love your green Fiesta and the cabbage looks very tasty... Carol, congrats to you on no longer smoking. John, always says that he didn't quit smoking but that he's choosing not to smoke. He keeps 3 packs of cigarettes in the refrigerator, just in case. (It's a little mind game that works for him.) Margiene, good looking dinner...seems like several of us will be eating corned beef sandwiches in the next few weeks (ours will be reubens). Debbie, your rye bread is beautiful... I love your front door arrangement -a gorgeous dinner
Oh, Jayne, I think they're adorable and I bet that they tasted great.......Love your green Murano.... not only do you have lots of variety in colors, but some very unique shapes.... I looked on the internet for the carrots, quite an interesting and rich recipe with the cream and egg, I'm not surprised that they were delicious....your plates with the bugs, too cute, blackberry bundles, YUM..... have a safe trip to Florida, enjoy the warmth. (DUH! I just noticed you linked to the carrot recipe...I need to read more carefully.) Suzy, your "found" pitcher, is just perfect for your table and the dragonfly plates are wonderful... lovely dinner and refreshments and delicious looking (and pretty) cheesecake.
Jain, I easily get carried away with learning things sometimes...I'll try and keep my sharing to a minimum. Jain, you, party pooper, NEVER.... everything looks so pretty and festive... but I LOVE the daffodils, they say SPRING to me.... very creative dessert ...and I could eat your cookies for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! Hope you have some down time to recuperate. Monique, your daughter has a GREAT reason for having to miss Montréal's St. Patrick's Day parade...I love watching my daughter and SIL with Addison; it's pure love and they enjoy her so much....It's wonderful to see our children become parents, I'm very proud and I can tell from your posts that you feel the same. EDITED: Maryel, I refreshed and there appeared your lovely photos. Everything looks spectacular...your beautiful delicate-looking glass dishes remind me of my paternal grandmother's table settings. Ruth Chris' creamed spinach is a favorite of ours...salmon paté ahhhhh, everything is absolutely another fabulous Maryel production. Maryel, how fun that you bought a PK plate...what pattern? I'm glad that I could convert another person to Peggy Karr. (Thanks for the kind comments about Addi; she's definitely the love of my life and I do tend to "share" her too often.) Cynthia

Mary, what beautiful details of your luncheon! The pots of gold - what a great idea. I adore the little covered soup bowls and your cupcakes! I think I would like that cream cheese icing also if it’s not too sweet. They are so beautifully decorated! I may be a copycat for Easter :) Marie, I found the green cabbage high-sided dishes at Marshall on clearance last week and thought they’d make great salad dishes. The green serving platter I’ve had for a year or so. Happy Birthday to your DGS!
LOL, Marie! Greg, congratulations on your no-smoking anniversary! Debbie your table is lovely! You gals are all so lucky to have found those topiary plates - they’re beautiful. Your bread, silver spoon and salt dish, flowers, everything was done to a tee! Love the little Baileys glasses :) Seil your table is lovely too. I think I’ll have to see if I can find some corned beef on sale and make a boiled dinner later in the month - it all looks so good. More beautiful cupcakes, Marigene! Thank you for the interesting facts regarding St. Patrick’s Day, Cynthia. I never would have guessed that about Montreal. I adore the 3 green bears (Momma, Papa and Baby Bear, no doubt :)?) You are lucky to have such a cute helper. Kathleen, what a beautiful table! Your tablecloth is lovely. Is it an heirloom? It look like it could be. Little placecards, shamrock napkin rings, the centerpiece - all wonderful touches. I really like how you plated the corned beef too! It’s funny what you said about being careful about the Irish coffee. My Bailey’s cream pots had espresso in them and I couldn’t fall asleep Sunday night! Carol, your corned beef looks great too! Is the baked corned beef recipe on Epicurous too? I’ll be looking for the cabbage recipe on Epicurous. Beautiful green plate! Jayne, I never tire of seeing your beautiful Italian glass pieces. I love the photo of the candy dish and I see a little vase too ! I see you used a corned beef recipe from Carol and I was just inquiring - is it posted in the recipe area? The blackberry bundles look delicious! Love the bow for | |
