With the sound of snowmobiles right now, across the street from me, I sit here and think, "Omigosh, there IS life on the planet!" I've been waiting for these. Thank you Jain.

Any more today? It's quite bleak and I could use a few more Iris:) I found the little plan of where I planted iris.. when we went for our walk yesterday I said to Jacques I can't wait to see my tulips and irises.. he said..you have a long way to wait:( Remember last yr? We lost all those huge trees..? 3 were by that bed..I hope everything comes up beautifully this yr.. Do you have a favorite Iris Jain?

super day outside yesterday, sometimes its just so euphoric you feel you are walking on air~
me too, i adore that combo!
oh i am lucky i guess! i have never treated it, i know it can't kill them, but does make them ugly...
no, thank you... i never know if i should share... i see it everyday and love it, just don't know if its worth the effort to post pics if i hear nothing back...
oh yes everyday now! i was too busy to upload pics last night, it was a long day... monique i hope your iris do come back year and after year for you~ a favorite? whatever has just opened... i just know what i don't like is easier to say, the deep dark black colors and burgundies, give me all the rest~ i went to sleep with iris catalogs last night... thank you for your comments!

They are magnificent! Makes me think what a pitiful garden I have on my little half acre. I have never seen Iris like that..amazing. I am partial to the blues, but I love all of them! A forum friend from NC sent me some last spring after she divided, I hope they come up!! I don't see anything yet. I do see some of the lily's peeking through, and the start of the hypericum, but that's it. Forsythia are first, and none yet.. Thank you , Jain..I bet it smells heavenly there! And you did it all yourself, what an accomplishment!!

Jain, what catalog suppliers do you use? These are all beautiful. I am so thankful that you share this beauty with us and as a northern gardener with such a short growing season your exotic flowers and hills just mesmerize me!

Your bird, Jain, is a Golden-crowned sparrow. We have just started seeing the White-crowned sparrow returning and the Golden-crowned ones will be along as the weather warms. Unfortunately they still have time to feast on your irises for a little while yet! What gorgeous blooms! I keep coming back to look at your garden blooms. Wow!

thank you for naming the culprit! is there any other food i can offer it besides 1000s of iris blossoms? it looks like a machete has cut through the garden with the earliest blooms...

my typical garden day starts with a 3 mile walk at the lake and then i decide which pets join me in the garden... tuckers ritual is to race down stairs and then leap off the retaining wall into the grasses on the steep slope and dive backwards head first on his back for the first 50'... its hard to catch this action shot as he wiggles and waggles down in hog heaven. can you say foxtails? thats all i need before i go... chester explorers the many paths, here is is passing thru the hip high daisies that are blindingly bright on the hillside. i am always aware that the deer are close. tucker pauses in little italy, i name my gardens so scott and i know where to find each other, as i take pics of the promise to come, all the buds on the iris. this is my favorite vista in full bloom. you can see my ipod is always with me, i was so enchanted as i walked the steps i am sharing my song as i descended... note the grime, thank heavens for protecters~ the yellow rose tunnel by flora is getting ready to burst into full bloom shortly, frog hill is full bloom with the lavender, lantana and jasmine. the yellow sunbrusts locusts are just now springing to life for contrast and of course the iris bloom for months...

Hard to believe you did all that! Just beautiful. I took a half acre walk around the property today, lol. There is sign of life, but not much! I am thinking about going out to Hollytone all the shrubs, but just thinking. Still a bit chilly. I see some of the iris peeking through, don't know what they are, it will be a surprise. I bet there's not one blue like yours, Jain!

Imagine that.. and this:( We are having below freezing temps.. A pang hit me when you spoke of your euphoria going down the garden steps listening to your IPOD.. 2 pangs.. Heartache at still being snowed under:( and thinking what was I thinking getting an Ipod case I cannot see into?:( w/ a clip? I could only find a pocket like thing.:( Your pets really lucked out didn't they? I bet there are ticket takers in future pet life for who gets to come back as a pet at your house:) It's all over the top beautiful..and I will nevr tire of looking at all your vistas.. It's the Abundance of it all..and warmth and sunshine..and green..and blue skies~ Chester and the froggies:) I think.. I would just do what tucker did in the grass:) YES.

What a gorgeous group of pics, jain. I am so glad all is going well with you. My 'jain' iris' are coming up nicely. I hope to have blooms this year. Last spring we had a hard freeze on the 7th of April that wiped out most of my blooms, and severely damaged many things. This spring we are having deluges...one after another. The next one is due this evening and on through friday. Our driveway is badly damaged. If it gets any worse I will not be able to navigate it with my little car...:-(
