Monique- Congratulations on the delivery of Brigitte! :) } I hope Mara will be able to help. Here's what google translator comes up with: Ruben 375 g dark syrup 50 g brown sugar 100g butter or margarine 2 tsp Lebkuchengewurz-mix (gingerbread spices) 500 grams of flour 1 package baking powder; Flour for the work surface Are those the ingredients you came up with, too? I think I may try a gingerbread cookie recipe or a shortbread cookie recipe. Do you think either of those might work? I'm up for experimenting. :) But I'd love to know if Mara can help us.

Sorry. Marie just alerted me. Lebkuchen are standard Xmas fare. Similar to (identical to?) Gingerbread. As I don't care for either, I'm not sure. 375 grams dark (sugarbeet) syrup 50 g brown sugar 110 g butter or margarine 2 teaspoons Lebkuchen-spice mix (that doesn't help much, does it? I'll look it up) 500 g flour 1 packet baking powder The last line must have been miscopied. Should be Mehl für die Arbeitsfläche. Means: flour for the worktop. I found three recipes for the Lebkuchen spices in the German Wikipedia. Here's one with measurements in spoonsful rather than grams: 10 tablespoons cinnamon powder 9 tablespoons ground star anis 3 teaspoons clove powder 2 teaspoons ginger powder 1 teaspoons coriander powder 1 teaspoons cardamom powder 1 teaspoons ginger powder (not sure why it is repeated - probably a mistake) 1 tablespoon ground nutmeg flower (macis) There's also a shorter, easier recipe (I'd definitely prefer it!): 1 tablespoon ginger powder 2 tablespoons allspice powder 3 tablespoons clove powder 2 tablespoons freshly grated nutmeg 1/2 tablespoon cardamom powder 3 tablespoons coriander powder Oops. Just saw Mary had already done it.

Mara..thanks! There are 3 recipes posted.. in the little 2 page booklet.. I think we need a cookie that holds well..cuts well and doesn't change much when baked..what about the sugar rolled cookies? All I did last night was put NOAH in the holder.. Jacques laughed this am..he said you've been waiting all week for that and now you're too busy:) I will get to it.I almost feel like making them now but he'll think I am coocoo.
