My six year old Reason For Living loves granola bars so of course I bought a large box of premium granola cereal for him. Nope, he only likes it in bars. So I would like to find a recipe for using store-bought granola cereal to make bars. Nay ideas?

I've never made these but they sure do look good. Martha's recipes usually work out very well. Peanut Butter Granola Bars Makes 16 squares. 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, plus more for pan 10 1/2 ounces mini-marshmallows 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter 8 cups Homemade Granola Butter a 9-inch-square baking pan; set aside. In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Add marshmallows; stir until melted, about 4 minutes. Remove from heat. Stir in peanut butter and granola until well combined. Transfer mixture to prepared pan. Dampen your hands, and press mixture into prepared pan, distributing mixture evenly. Set aside to cool. Invert pan, releasing bars. Cut into sixteen squares. Store in an airtight container up to 3 days. http://www.marthastewart.com/recipe/peanut-butter-granola-bars?autonomy_kw= granola%20bar&rsc=header_1

Here's one from Food Network that looks good. Chewy Granola Bars Recipe courtesy Family Circle Magazine 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons packed light-brown sugar 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons honey 1 teaspoon vanilla 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter 3 cups low-fat granola mix (not cereal) 1/2 cup sweetened flake coconut 1/2 cup golden raisins 3/4 cup mini semisweet chocolate chips 1/2 cup slivered almonds Combine brown sugar, honey, vanilla and butter in a medium-size saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Lower heat; simmer 2 minutes or until sugar is dissolved. Cool. Meanwhile, combine granola, coconut, raisins, 1/2 cup chocolate chips and almonds in a large bowl. Stir brown sugar mixture into granola mixture. Spread in a 13 by 9 by 2-inch baking pan. Press remaining chocolate chips into top. Refrigerate 2 hours or until completely cooled. Cut into bars. Hope these help, Jak3! Maybe someone has tried and true for you! Martha's looks good though! Probably add whatever extras your six old loves! Maybe chocolate chips?
