It's that time of the year where I trade my garden gloves for the rake. On the weekends, we journey to our camp in the mountains. This weekend was rainy, but the colors of the leaves were still brilliant. The lake was quiet, yet memories of summer put a smile on my face.

Just gorgeous Debbie! We have no maples so I always envy those beautiful red leaves. I like the last shot with the water running over them...frameable!

Beautiful photos, Debbie! You are so fortunate to have a great spot like that to 'get away from it all'. We used to have a family cottage in northern Wisconsin on a lake with very similar views and fall color. Great memories.

Beautiful, Debbie! We have no color yet, people at the beach today, and the summer flowers still going strong. It always amazes me you have such different weather a few hours north. It looks lovely there..

My mom has been carving some plastic carveable pumpkins that you can get at the craft stores. I always look forward to her display of about 30 pumpkins on her front porch.

Cool pumpkins, Debbie! When the kids were small we used to carve the pumpkins or paint them! Your look great! Gorgeous scenery, I love it upstate, it's been years since we've been! Autumn in the mountains, doesn't get much better than that, just beautiful!

Debbie, those beautiful pictures make me homesick for the east coast! There is nothing like fall in Vermont and all their neighboring states.

She's quite an artist, your mother! Great pics. I'm a little slow getting into the fall spirit since we've had such summery weather until just recently.

This morning it was 29 degrees in the mountains, the fall splendor still surrounds us. We are grateful for our weekend getaway, certainly helps to clear our heads from the busy work week. We woke to mist on the lake.
I enjoyed the beautiful ice crystals on my strawberry plants.
Headed into town to get baking supplies, and found out that the kayakers are here for the weekend for the annual Moose River trip. The water is fast, and I saw license plates from as far away as New Mexico. I loved one of the stickers on this truck - "Aquaholic".
This is the school in the next town over, the students have a view of the lake :-). I think there are 20 students enrolled.
In keeping with our surroundings at the cottage, I made some ham and cheese appetizers using my maple leaf, acorn and pumpkin cookie cutters. Very yummy, I posted the recipe under Appetizers.

Oh, Debbie, I haven't come to hodge podge for a couple of days... what a treat to see your Autumn Splendor. Fantastic! A wonderful life. Such a fantastic area. We spent a Thanksgiving week in the Adirondacks once and it is a beautiful place. I'll check back here to see if you post more pics.

Jain, you are always welcome :-) Jayne, how neat that you were in my neck of the woods. Tell me more...where did you stay? How did happen to choose the Adirondacks for Thanksgiving? Our neighbor's backyard.

Debbie, I love your neck of the woods. We've always gone away for Thanksgiving week (now, it's always to FL). We used to travel often to VT/NH, and wanted to see another nearby area, so we chose the Adirondacks. We stayed at a B&B near Lake George, but I can't rememeber the name now. Anyway, we really do love the area and even considered a vacation home in VT... too cold for me in the winter though! LOL.

Jayne, I wish you had bought your vacation home a little closer to me :-) But if you don't care for the cold, you made a very wise choice!!

Just found your most recent photos too, Debbie. What a wonderful place you have there! Did you get your cookie cutters at C&B? I saw some there yesterday but not the acorn. I bought some cute 'minis' though.

Susan, I am loving everyone's fall pictures! I have two sets of fall cookie cutters. The large cutters consist of an apple, oak, maple and another leaf, pumpkin, and acorn. I got them at a cooking store in the Finger Lakes last year. The mini ones are adorable, and I use them to decorate the pumpkin pie.
