What exactly does flowering on old wood mean? Does it mean that you don't get flowers on new wood at all or that you only get a few, with most of the flowers on old wood. I am a bit confused as I have an alpina odorata seedling that is flowering on new wood ( there was no old wood ) and from what I read it is supposed to flower on old.

Pruning Group "A" & "B" flower on old wood, Group "A" mainly from old wood only (alpina and macropetala flower from young wood as well) Group "B" flower on old and new growth and Group "C" flower from young wood only (there are some there are put to pruning Group "B"/"C" and those flower on old as well as new growth. Still long seasons with dry spell can ripen the wood so some plants will flower again on "half/old wood"
