I just ran across this this evening, it's a short but nice interview of Mary Toomey by her publisher. Not that I couldn't tell how much she loves clematis as much as we all do from her books, but it's nice to read more of her thoughts like these. Mary Toomey Interview

Thanks for sharing this, James. It's made my morning. I think all of us can relate to the way she personally identifies with this wonderful group of plants.

Mary brought a bus full of Irish gardeners to visit my garden two or three years ago. She was enthusiastic and excited over every new discovery and kept the group running to keep up. It was a fun day.

Wow Penny, how flattered you must have been! Did she hear of your garden through word of mouth or had you been friends with her beforehand? Either way, what a treat! Her excitement over clematis is infectious :)

I can only imagine that's very true Ton! The closest I've come to meeting her is wandering around the lovely garden designed by her at Chalk Hill Clematis Farm :)
