Lots of evidence of growth starting in the seedlings that were plunged outdoors over winter (not that winter is over, we have more snow in the forecast!). A few that have survived are seedlings of:
Blue Eclipse
Propertius
Columella
Purple Spider
Constance
Siberica
Ochotensis v. rubricunda
Chiisanensis
Jan Lindmark
Fusca
Pitcheri
G76D viorna
Lake Baikal species
Inspiration pink
Red Ballon
Occidentalis v. grosseserrata
Columbiana v. tenuiloba
Fremontii

My heracleifolia group seedling experiment also looks successful with the following surviving in both sheltered locations and out in the open:
Speciosa
Speciosa pink
Stans
Cote d'azur
Tubulosa (a big surprise considering the squirrels repeatedly dug the soil away from the roots)

Not sure yet whether Rehderiana is alive but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Yes congratulations, Alison. Nice to see some favorites in there like 'Blue Eclipse' and 'Constance'. I'm looking forward to seeing the flowers.

So you buried the pots in the ground or something similar?

Yes Mike, I just buried the pots up to their rims in the garden, did not add any mulch. Pot sizes were from 2 1/2" up to gallon pots and all seem to have worked.

Even better news is that I discovered a flower bud on Propertius #1 and one of the Blue Eclipse so maybe we'll get to see your 'grandflowers' this year!

Good news, I've discovered at least 2 of the Rehderiana from Roelie have survived. Also a viorna. And flower buds on at least 4 Blue Eclipse seedlings.
