Pity it has been raining all morning. It doesn't look like either of Clayton's seedlings. Not sure what the colour will be once the sun comes out, but I have to say I am really pleased. The other two seedlings don't have any buds as yet.
Would love to see flowers from some of the other seedlings Brian sent out.

Congratulations Helen! I know how exciting it is to see those first blooms open. Love the color on this one. :)

Malgorzata and Alison I am at a loss to describe the colour. I do like the way it is starting to curl it's skirts. Here's a few pics of how it looks today.

Helen, without the rain it's easy to see the contrast between the dark rosy color inside and the lighter pearly pink on the outside. Very pretty. And I also like the frilly skirts.

Very pretty Helen. Personally I'd keep that and see how she is an an adult. Should make a lovely mature plant. Wouldn't mind a cutting!!

I like it more every day Brian, here's the second flower today.
If I had seen this plant at a nursery in flower I would have bought it. I will do my best to make a cutting for you, and hope the other two will get buds before too much longer. Btw, I would appreciate it if you could send a copy of a pic of the seedling to the lady who kindly donated them.

H all those seedlings kindly came to me from Iris Clarke who is a lovely lady and clematis person and grower par excellence here in uk. Iris also gave me at the same time a plant of true C. pitcheri which has been a complete revelation all summer long; endless masses of huge beautiful dripping magenta bells among beautiful foliage. So all the credit is owed to Iris at iris.clarke1@tesco.net

I, too, only have one seedling left from Brian. It has sulked at about 8 inches all summer. I know it is growing good roots, tho. I would be happy if it looked like yours, Helen, when it gets to the flowering stage! This is one instance where I wish we all owned Roelie's color cards.... How tall do you think it'll get, Brian?

Glad to see some blooms coming on these plants from Brian. I have 2 plants left both of which I posted some time winter and on my blog. Since transplanting they are quite slow to produce top growth. Sure am hoping they will survive the winter to come. It looks like your color is a little more intense than my light pink one but that could be from being outdoors while blooming.
It will be very interesting to see any new additions. Congrats Helen.

Nancy, whatever you get it will most likely be a keeper. One of my other two plants now has a bud, can't wait to see what it will be. Clayton, I am pretty sure your seedlings will be fine over winter, mine were plunged in the veggie garden last winter when they were still pretty small and they were fine, although we did have lots of snow cover.
