I have what appear to be some nice seed heads forming on my Ville de Lyon, Bees Jubilee, & one other large flowered hybrid that I misplaced the tag to I plan to try starting them in my basement (as winters are so harsh here), but my question for all you wonderful experts is, would you recommend chilling these seeds first? I've read up on lots of informational sites (thanks Heathergirl for pointing me to some of those!) but what I've read has been conflicting on this. What would you all do...chill or not?

What I would do is plant them as soon as they are ripe (brown, falling off), being aware that they go from almost ripe to falling off very quickly. Once planted, keep the pots outside out of direct sunlight in a protected area where they won't blow around Do you have an attached or detached garage? If it's attached, you can probably keep them there close to a house wall, checking the temp to make sure it doesn't get freezing there (unlikely). If detached, keep them there until the temps threaten 32F, then chill them. In this way they're getting a warm period first, fluctuating temps on the way to winter, then winter. I'd reverse the process in the spring. Then be extra patient, as these can take more than a year to germinate.
