I have several clumps of daffodils. They come up every year but, for the last few years, they don't flower. I think they're too crowded. Can I dig the clumps now, and carefully thin them? They're about 2 inches out of the ground now. Or do I have to wait until the foliage dies back? My only problem with that is, that by the fall, the foliage has disappeared, and I wouldn't know precisely where to dig. I suppose I could put some stakes around the clumps, to help find them later. I also have the same problem with some Callas.

I'm not an expert, but I would think you could do it. You may not get flowers this year but should the following.

It might be best to see if they have any flowers this year then when they have finished dig them up and replant and give them a feed at the same time. Good luck.

Thanks. It appears that the main clumps have no flowers this year. A couple of smaller ones have a few flower buds each.
