Galanthophile, I can't wait. The Asiatic are suppose to take 2-3 years to flower from seed, and Oriental 3-4, no clue on hybrids. TerryK, at first I was pricking them out and replacing them into another pot, to give some distance between the seedlings. It got to the point that so many were germinating, I thought I just leave them, and see how they did. They seemed fine, so I planted the whole clump as is. I won't mess with them for at least 2 years. When they get big enough, I will separate them and place elsewhere. I had two trays like the one pictured, well over 500+ seedlings I planted out.

Well, I have around 20 seeds with sprouts so far. I soaked the seeds for a couple hours in water, this time. First time I tried these it took months for my first sprout.

Jaydee1400, how long from seed to flower on your hybrids. I like mike 3, and mike 19. Well I got around to starting the last of my lily seeds. In April, I think I will stick the above seedling tray into the fridge for a month or two, that way the Oriental's will put up a grow shoot this summer.

The time from seed to flower depends on the division the plants fall into. I had some asiatics bloom in the second summer they were outside. I am still waiting for the orientals and trumpets. I had two or three trumpet seedlings bloom last summer so that would have been the second season out in the garden. My big problem is giving them enough room to grow, I got tremendous success in germinating the lilies I pollinated in 2003, more than I expected, now I have to start giving them room. Feel free to email me from my website if you have any more questions. I will also check here more frequently as well.

TerryK, they will be planted as is. Far too many to try to separate them. I figure in two years, they will be big enough to dig and replant.

My seeds are starting to germinate. They took a long time to germinate compared to last years attempt. I wonder if a longer cold chill makes them germinate faster when they receive moisture and warmth. The ones I germinated last year were in the fridge for a year+ and these one's maybe 2 months.

It's dangerous to pop into your threads Guff, they are so tempting... How did your first batch of seedlings fair?

TerryK, my first batch of seedlings only had a single leaf again this past summer. Hopefully this year, they start to put up a stalk and more leaves. I have noticed with all my Tiger Lily bulbis planted each year, that some put up a stem with 3-5 leaves their second spring. I have some 4+ years old seedlings that still only put up 1 leaf. I think the reason is the size of the bulbis when planted. Sometimes I get some huge bulbis at the tops of my plants, but most are mid size to tiny.
