Several years ago there was a discussion in this forum regarding G. Yoshinoi. There was a picture of the flowers posted but not the leaves. Can anyone ID the leaf on this seedling as G.Yoshinoi? I am pretty sure the leaf isn't G.Thunbergii as I had that last year and got rid of it, but memory plays tricks when you get older.

No Maggie. the leaves are not divided enough for yoshinoi. They certainly look like thunbergii to me. They self seed everywhere!

Not really Maggie. I used to have some but didnt collect it last summer. I have bought yoshinoi seed in the past and it has turned out to be thunbergii. You would be amazed how many so called proffessionals dont know their yoshinoi from their thunbergii ;) !!

I'm probably better off scratching it off my list then. My seed was purchased as yoshinoi too. I guess there is no way to be sure of what you are buying. Same goes for plants which are wrongly named.

Thank you Annette, I would really appreciate that. I love hardy geraniums and the ones I had survived last winter, but I won't know what is going on this year until the snow melts. At present we still have at least 2 feet of snow on the garden. I am zone 4b, but I am hoping I can get away with zone 5 perennials.

Geranium yoshinoi seed may still be available from Krystl Walek, 'Gardens North', Ontario Canada. I have it returning every year in Zone 5a, central Ontario, Canada. www.gardensnorth.com
