I need some advise please. I would like to use a geranium that flowers for a long period (who doesn't!) and one that is blue. I am pairing with Casa Blanca Lilies and would like the blue geraniums and white lilies to be in bloom together. That means late July/August for my lilies. I have thought of Johnston Blue but would be open to others as long as they are easy to get. My local nursery will order in for me, I can't make them go on a wild goose hunt. Thanks in advance!

I have found Rozanne the longest blooming geranium in my garden, Terry.

Another possibility if you cant get those is Geranium Himalayense. Doesnt flower over the same long stretch as the other two but if cut back after flowering will provide a second flush. Rozanne and jollybee should be readily available in the states though as it seems to be widely grown there.

I have heard that Rozanne and Jolly Bee are the same plant. In any case Rozanne as others have said is wonderful. Mine has already started blooming and will last until late into the fall, when I finally cut it back. My Johnson's blue is lovely, but I don't get anywhere near the mileage. Carol

There has certainly been alot of arguments about the two. Rozanne was given plant breeders rights and the two are so similar as to be virtually undistinguishable. JOhnsons blue is lovely but i suspect in your hot climate has an even shorter flowering period.

I am looking into getting some Rozanne and some Jolly Bee-figure one can be a spreader while the other will be taller. At least that's what I read.

I have never grown jollybee but I know several very experienced geranium breeders that have and they say there is virtually no difference between them. To be honest the height is often influenced by growing conditions. The more lush/damper the conditions the more upright growth will be. The same geranium can look quite different in growth depending on where it is grown. This is very much area dependant. The hotter the climate the more sprawling/smaller a geranium will be. Therefore this comparison between the two in this case isnt really very helpful. They are both hybridised with G Wallichianum so will have a sprawling habit.

Psilo, my climate is dry, but never very hot as we have bay breezes, and almost daily or nightly fog. I think I just planted it in to shady an area. But it does the trick. Terry, I think you will really enjoy Rozanne. Carol

I have Rozanne which I bought in June07 of this year and I have cut them back 2 times now and the things have literally doubled in size. By the end of next season I will be splitting them. They give so much bang for the buck...

I would say yes these things are hardy. All you would have to do is change the soil once a season or feed the plant.

Here is a pick of my favorite plant of 2007 The Rozanne Geranium . This has been in the ground since May and is still blooming now. I cut them back 2 times this season! Here is a picture I took tonight.

Hi you all! This spring I purchased 6 or 8 hardy geraniums. Some bloomed a bit, but none to the extent you all are talking about. I know several were Rozanne. I have lots of leaves, but only an initial flush of bloom. Any suggestions? Is it too hot here? I do water regularly with a drip system. Perhaps they need more sun than I have in my beds. Flower power - nice pics TIA BeBe

How much sun do you get? You should actually cut the Rosanne version back during July and again in August. This will help give more energy to the bloom and give them a more bushier appearance. I get about 7hrs sun during the day on mine. Try feeding them some fert too that will help.
