I purchased a packet of mixed seed and started them indoors around early april, it is a tiny flower but still pleased to have something to show first year.

I'm impressed. With all the discussion about needing good roots I wouldn't think you'd get a great bloom so soon! Congratulations!

Hello Bebe,
I think the plant would have plenty of root, it is quite a sprawling type plant, same sort of growth pattern as a wallichianum.
That's why I was so surprised to see such a tiny flower, the flower is smaller than a sanguineum.

It is Geranium Thunbergii Maggiepie. A shortlived perennial that will self seed liberally.

Hello Annette,
Thanks for the ID, does it become invasive?
I think that at least half the seeds that germinated are prolly the same ones as this.

Not really invasive. It is easily pulled out and does not travel through its roots.

Thanks, I just googled Geranium Thunbergii and see that it can come in various colours .
I hope I get a white one too .
Btw , is there a particular book on cranesbills that you could recommend?

Yes they come in white and various shades of pink. The definitive guide to geraniums is by Peter Yeo. If you only get one book that is the one to buy.
