The "pencil cactus" on the left is Euphorbia tirucalli 'Sticks on Fire', the red version of the species. It is not hardy in my garden, so I grow it as an annual. It contrasts with Euphorbia 'Blue Haze' on the right, a hybrid cross of Euphorbia nicaeensis and Euphorbia sigueriana niciciana. The coloring is definitely from the E. nicaeensis.

Hmmmmmmm. I like Blue Haze. My book says "relaxed habit", whatever that means. I'm putting a check mark next to this one, but where will I find room for everything I like? (and money)

It is kinda relaxed, and I like that about it. It is nice and erect in spring when the new growth comes in, but by fall the tall stalks start leaning outward, and by spring are parted by the new growth. We don't have summer/fall rain, so rain may exacerbate the 'laxness' of the plant. But it's a beauty. Here's another shot of the whole plant taken in August. The sun bleaches out the nice blue/grey coloring. The blooms are vivid yellow. I'll try to find a picture.

David can we have the pictures of this one again? All I get is the dreaded red X. I think Euphorbia 'Blue Haze' is what we have in a container in the garden. I just bought 3 little ones myself but I would like to see a mature plant to compare.
