This is a vigorous species, but the mass of pine-needle-like foliage is beautiful, and it's covered in yellow blooms in the spring. It goes dormant in fall and should be cut back to the ground. It can be invasive, particularly in good soil; in poor and dry areas, it performs well, but doesn't spread as badly. It spreads by underground stolons, which are easy to pull up if it goes where you don't want it.

This plant is about 20 inches tall.
