I used to be deep into bonsai. A few weeks ago, I took the kids to a local store specializing in bonsai and rare plants. My son was hooked. So, today when I saw 3" scheffleras at the grocery store 2 for $3, I knew it'd be perfect for him. Brought a couple home, let Braedan pick out a pot, and we'll plant them tomorrow. They'll be allowed to grow unhindered for a while, but they grow fast, and they're easy. Perfect starter for him:
He's going through my back issues of Bonsai Today now, planning things... :^) Scott

Very cool, tho my experience with Schefflwera is that tyey wont branch out, or at least mine wouldnt. And be prepared for a long haul! (you read bonsai today so you obviously know that bonsai takes ages-and youre lucky, I cant get that magazine over here)
