Hello, everyone. I don't really do well with miniature trees, so have no real bonsai. I do have a jade I've been forcing to thrive in a bulb pot, and it is looking respectable. I have a nice, ever-blooming Euphorbia milii that it was suggested I trim up into a bonsai form. I used to know some good sites for shapes and such, but I didn't book mark them. I don't need to spend hours getting hooked into another plant collection I won't be able to tend to fairly or well... I just need some shape guidelines, so I have a plan before I pick up the prunners and the wire. This is the plant two Junes ago.
Here is the plant This June. It didn't even take a ribbon.
I asked one of the Judges clerks what was said during the Award discussion and his suggestion was to clean it up, clear it out, wire some bits, and give it an obvious shape. I have a conical pot with a pedestal base, rather than trying to raise it with another piece. I decided not to use a typical bonsai tray as it is just too tough to manage low hanging spines and all the training I think is required. I was thinking something 'wind swept'? I thank you in advance for any help, observations, suggestions, or ideas. Here is my half-hearted bonsai Jade plant.

Hi Cena, Yes indeed your Euphorbia milii has great potential for a wind swept style bonsai, also some great multi trunks on your Jade. I have always found the following site helpful when styling, hope it helps you, lots of other useful info on there too - Kath http://www.bonsaiprimer.com/styles/styles.html
