This is the bonsai in question from the other post. I was wondering if anyone knew wether it would do better outside over the winter or if i should bring it inside and protect it from the cold. The reason i ask is because of the exposed roots. I would like to know if it would need a little protection outside if i left it outside as well. suggestions would be much appreciated.

Cant see the pic, which is a shame as i'd like to see it!
I too have a Forsythia in training. They are supposedly hardy but I would give some protection, better safe than sorry.

I would give protection if the winter is hard, the roots are rubbery and the stems hollow. i think a good frost could kill a small plant with expoosed roots.

forsythias grow in Boise, ID zone 6. Mine keeps making babies, well, at least one or two and it is one tough plant. They are planted all over here. And we can get down to 0*F.

I keep this one outside all year, it can take nightfrost. It goes inside when the frost stays during daytime.
About 20cm tall and 10 years old, started bij airlayering, bonsai greetings chris
