I want to plant a river birch clump near my patio and house, but should I be concerned whether the roots will break up the cement? If so- how many feet away from the house or patio should I plant it?

I don't know how close you can get with the river birch, it says here in this link they are used for city streets. http://forestry.about.com/library/weekly/aa070902a.htm Jim

Why a river birch? My neighbor has one in their back corner and well, what a mess it makes in our yard. After 10 years that has over taken that corner and is huge due to all the water in their yard.
