Author Message   Stephie  Posted on Monday, March 03, 2008 - 01:40 pm EST :    I am growing this tree from seed.....ptelea trifoliata....and some say the flowers stink and some say they have a very delicious orange-blossom scent; everyone says the leaves stink when crushed but only when crushed. Has anyone grown this and can they tell me how the flowers really smell? They don't really waft, and are more subtle than overwhelming, but nice none the less. Citrus-like is the best way I can describe them. Here's a pic of one growing at the U of Minnesota arb.
