Hello, I have been trying to germinate these seeds (Anacardium occidentale) with no luck. Has anyone had success with these? If so, can I have some advice? My starter mixture composition shouldn't be the problem, i'm guessing its a saturation issue. It calls for "lightly moist - not wet" mixture. Does anyone know a good way to keep a somewhat steady flow of slight moisture? I must be overdoing it. Also, I am trying to start these indoors obviously. Any input at all would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Many trees require cold stratification in order to germinate as most of mine do. However, haven't tried cashew because I am not zoned for it. One can also use a soaking of salt peter (1/2 tsp per quart) overnite...helps many seeds but if they need a dormancy breaker then you MUST go that way. Most have hard seed coats too so may also need scarification. Do a googlee search on germinating cashew seeds...should find something!

Apparently, they need to be soaked for a couple of days and require high temps for germination..35 degrees C! Also, there's some advice on depth of seed (10 cm) and it has to be planted upright? Thanx for making me look...I always like finding out stuff!!
