I'm so happy, I've been waiting what seems an eternity for the blossoms to open up and here, it is, and it smells so wonderful
And more to look forward to.
This poor magnolia was rescued from the trash by a neighbor. By the time it got to me, it looked so sad. Someone had hacked off all the bottom branches. I pampered it and was relieved to see new growth forming this Spring, and now I'm rewarded with blossoms. They smell so fresh and lovely. I'm happy it found it's way to me.

Good for you for saving it and now it thanks you . I replanted one found in the woods and she blooms for me every year. The scent is so sweet and lemony.

Yes, Lemony, that's it Dirtlady! I love how it smells. That's so cool you found one in the woods. And Stephie, you're about the charity cases. About 3 years ago, On Mother's Day I was buying some plants for my MIL at Home Depot and they were giving away a free rose bush to each mom at the store. I picked out this very sad, dried out one simply labeled "patio rose" and not expecting much planted it in a container. It's about 4 feet tall and puts out pretty white roses all year. I don't know what kind it is, but it's made me happy and I was so happy and excited when I saw the first bit of green emerge. I love my plants and it's so fantastic to communicate with others who do as well.

Maybe its all about the positive energy we emit when looking at these sad little green souls...too bad the negative energy doesn't work on weeds!!:o)

How exciting! Would that be M. grandiflora? I've got a few Mag's growing up here, but I'm afraid that one is just a bit out of my reach. Looks beautiful, but as for the scent, well, I'm just not getting it. ;) BTW, has anyone ever smelled the flowers of M. tripetala (Umbrella Magnolia)? Its a surprisingly hardy magnolia, and I've been growing one for a few years now in this ice box I call home. I've heard the flowers are a bit off-putting, but mine has yet to produce any. Hopefully I'll get to see flowers on it before winter (or drought) steals it from me. Bob

Bob, I'm not sure if it's grandiflora or not, but I think it may be. There are so many different varieties. I've not experienced the Umbrella Magnolia but I hope you get an abundance of flowers soon! Stephie, I think you're right about the positive energy. We just focus right in and are so attentive to thier needs. That's funny about the weeds!
