Congrats! No chance of growing it here unless climate change/warming continues unabated, which is a scary thought. How long have you been growing this beauty? I've read they typically don't flower every year, which reminds me of our native Yellowwood (Cladrastis). Has this been your experience with it? I kind of like it when plants keep us waiting. It makes the eventual show all the more special and memorable. Bob

I just purchased a 1g grafted Davidia "sonoma" cultivar from sonoma horticulture. Its suppose to flower in about 2-3 years rather than the 10 years or so for the species. It wasn't cheap!!

How old was the tree before it flowered the first time ?? I have a 4-5 year old Davidia growing in the garden approx. 5-6' HT x 6' W. and I hope it keeps remaining this cold hardy !!:) Thanks for sharing those beautiful flowers !!

I have donated a rooted cutting to a gardenfriend. With 4 years he had the first flowers.

A friend of mine planted one in her garden...the first flowers appeared only 9 years later, and 10 years seems to be a rather frequent order of magnitude among other french gardeners...

Now I have about 150 seeds of my tree of about 10 years old. I know that I am lucky and I make every year several cuttings of my tree.
