I recently bought mimosa seeds then found seeds for a black-leafed mimosa (with pink flowers). What a find!!!!!!! Anyone grow this variety? If so, are the leaves actually that dark?

A lingering memory from growing up in NM was a mimosa in bloom at one of the houses we lived at. I've always loved that tree. I've kept wanting to try it up here but doubt it'd make it. I saw the one you're referring to and drooled some more.

you need a nudge... GET IT!!! just don't be stingy with pictures. :)

I bought both kinds! I figured the drooling was starting to damage my keyboard!

This tree is not hardy in my area, but I've heard it can be an invasive pest in warmer climes. Any concerns about the invasive potential in your area? BTW, I first saw this tree (in full flower) while traveling through Missouri a few years back and it was love at first sight.

Well.....as long as I place it in the right spot I don't mind the word "invasive" as I have fought blackberries for years. We have 30 acres, half of it in rainforest so the trees I plant eventually hit a "forest wall" of fir and cedar. Mowing takes care of errant seedlings/runners.

The seeds are very easy to germinate and now have many seedlings. Just started another set of "regular" mimosa...it looks neighbours will be finding orphans on their doorsteps.....
