This is a new plant for me. I have seen them in some gardens and liked the way that they look.
I started some of the seed this spring and just now I am getting a seed head coming up. The plant is small as not that many seeds germinated form me.
I am wondering how the seed head looks when it is ready to pick and save for next year?

You'll be able to tell when the head appears to be full of bird seed, cute little tiny hard balls. Here in zone 5 they are ready around late aug. early Sept. Yours will probably come in much sooner. One head supplies me for the next season and I just leave the rest on for the birds to enjoy. Is that a cool annual or what????
