I planted pampas grass last year and it did good. But so far this year it hasn't done a thing. I cut it way back to the ground as I read somewhere you were suppose to do but I am wondering if it will come back. Help

I can't imagine pampas grass is hardy where you are. You might succeed if you gave it a lot of winter protection, otherwise treat it as an annual.

I agree with Mara, Miscanthus might be a better choice for you. Pampas is just too tender.

Charlieann I am sure your Pampass Grass shall grow again. Mine is very hardy and we cut her back to the grown every Spring and look at her now. And the birds so love to swing on her.

CharlieAnn, I am also in Zone 5 and after a couple of attemps to grow pampas I was told that is was nothing but an annual in this zone. They told me to try Reed Grass and it is just as beautiful and has done wonderful! It will get up to 10' tall.
