This has to be my favorite of the VERY hardy grasses! Besides the nice seed plumes and variegated foliage, it has interesting white stalks! An EXCELLENT new variety!

I just love ornamental grasses, all of them. That is doing very nicely with your other beautiful flowers.

Indeed I too LOVE the ornamental grasses! Unfortunately, I'm really restricted by my cold climate and also many types bloom just too late! On the flip, being restricted is not always a bad thing ... I'd otherwise want one of everything!

Those look wonderful :) I have been looking for some of the Karley Rose grass too! The great thing about them is that they are "DEER PROOF"

Thanks for the suggestions! I really like that one too - I've seen it in other people's gardens but I haven't figured out which one it is yet.. There's a garden a ew blocks away that had a whole bunch of different grasses that I would have liked to identify....

Littlegardenbug, Other grasses to look for are the new to the market calamgrostis "Eldorado Gold" and "Overdam" ... both of these have originated from the very popular Karl Foerster. With being in the same COLD zone as yourself, you can be assured these varieties are extremely HARDY!

I didn't know Overdam was that hardy. It is listed as zone 4/5 by our nursery. I love it and grow a hedge of it mixed with verbena bonariensis.

Hi Gardenbug, I expect Overdam is hardy way down to zone 2. I've had it about five years and it's always come through anything winter can throw at it ... and that includes -40 c with as little as just a inches of snow protection. If you like Overdam, you'll LOVE Avalanche!
