This is Carex morrowii 'Ice Dance'. I added a small clump of this grass last year. Now it started sending out some interesting foliage.

I love Carex - tres chic. But then I'm a sucker for any of these ornamental grasses (I just tonight finished surrounding a tree with Hakone grass). Those brown things sticking up are the Carex's flowers. Here's someone else's carex, with the flowers showing. Apparently it flowers in May. Cool.

I love them ALL! How neat to see the 'flowers' both old and new.

My Ice Dance is blooming too! I don't remember it doing that last year, but perhaps it wasn't established long enough. I like the way its filling out, but at a slow enough pace to keep up with it.

I just bought this plant a few weeks ago at Edwards Greenhouse in boise. One of my favorite haunts for great plants at great prices and the best for clematis.
