As far as cutting them back...it depends on the variety whether they need it or not. My friend was moving so I got a lot of starters from her garden in early November. They were very slow taking off in the spring and growth has been minimal. On the other hand ...the grasses I planted in Aug. that were from a reduced table have put out twice the growth. Tell your friend to wait til spring. Jodi, ONT, Z4, Great White North
