I have 36 huge hostas to dig up and divide this year I get abaout 10-12 good size plants from each one. They are about 17 years old I was going to have a plant sale but aa nursery heard about them and wants to buy most of them I am making lots of typos today, I am sick with shingles and so much pain I will use that excuse anyway, lol,lol $5.00 each isn't bad and he is suppling the pots Hope my back holds up from all that digging Carolyn

Hey there, Ok so I am going to seperate my hosta's also. So thanks for asking this question before I did. I read the link you've posted and I get all of what he's saying. But something I don't get it this. My Hosta's are in full sunlight. And shockingly they grow great, huge. So they are being divided this year after growing there for 3 or 4 years. I am doing it in the next few days. I am going to put them in the small pots like it says. I know where they are going to after I am done dividing them. My question is this... When I divide them even though they are in a full sun location, I put them in a shady location in there pots? Also the place they are going after I re-establish them in the pots, will be a shady location as well. Will they still grow up to be big and healthy? We planted some small hosta's at the place these are going last year and they got eaten by rabbits and then they never came back so far. Any advice on that? Some on my property and some on a friends. It says about different soil types so how do I make up for that? Hope to hear back..
