I have just purchased a new hosta called "Mouse Ears". It is a dwarf with round leaves. Looks o.k., but it is not a miniature, which I misunderstood it to be. The ad said its leaves are the size "of your pinky", which I thought meant your baby fingernail. However, the leaves are about 1.5 to 2 inches - the size of my whole little finger. I was disappointed as I like the extremely mini hostas, but the fault was mine for the misunderstanding. Looks nice in a raised bed that I have by my door anyway.

Blue Mouse Ears was first marketed as a mini but that was soon proven to be incorrect.

Do you have Tiny Tears Julie? I have seen that in a mass planting and it looks totally gorgeous, but haven't seen it for sale locally.

Yes, I do have Tiny Tears, several in fact, and I also have one called Medusa which is very little, variegated and twisted. I have a third one also which had a very long and involved Japanese name and of course, I lost the tag! I don't see many minis around, and I love them! I will try to put some photos up in the next week...

I got last year a real mini-hosta Shining Tot,thought it would not survive winter as I left it outside, but now it is back with two little leaves - I will make a picture of it these days. And what do you think of Cat's Eye and the green sport of this mini called Kitty Cat...There are some really very small ones, lovely to see.. Gerda

We keep the mini's in pot, don't feed them much (because then they don't stay mini) and we take good care they are not in soil that stays too wet... This picture is not my collection, but it shows how many mini's there are...(I found that in USA you call them 'dwarfs'- a name I do like! Gerda

I also have Remember Me, but it is not what I term "miniature". It fall in the same size group as Mouse Ears for me, small to be sure, but not "mini". I PROMISE that I will take a variety of photos this week to post!

Yesterday I was at a local nursery and they had this teensy hosta called, guess what, "Mouse Ears". It is much more like mouse ears than the first one which I bought through Vesey's mail order catalogue. The Vesey's one just looks like a small plain hosta with leaf size of about 2.5 inches (6 cm.). The "new" one has leaves about .5 inches (1 cm.). I will be putting the new one around ny front patio combined with my Tiny Tears and a variegated mini whose name tag has long been lost. This is what I wanted to do in the first place!
