I've just spent more than an hour (and two Gin and Tonics) trying to figure out how to post a photo......here goes.......this is one of my hosta beds, taken this afternoon.

Hi Candy and I'm tellin you what, the above photo of your hosta bed is candy to this hosta lover's eyes!

Please tell me the name of the gorgeous blue one in the upper left-hand side.

I see you also found huchera an appealing companion plant. That is what the dark maroon plant is in the lower left corner, is it not?

Congrats on figuring out how to post. I just started using a new photo hosting Web site and it took me several attempts to figure out which was the best way to upload and link to my photos from blogs such as this.

How many other hosta beds do you have and are they all as beautiful as the one in the above photo?

Thanks for the compliment. The blue in the upper left is a 64" Elegans. The Heuchera in the center is "Raspberry Sorbet"...my favorite.
I have seven hosta beds, the one in the photo is about 4 years old, but the Elegans and Regal Splendor (lower right) are both about 6 years old. That bed is on a hillside that was done as a "lasagna bed" several years ago. With the success of that one, I'm slowly converting all the beds to lasagna beds.
The other beds are somewhat specialty types: a Ladies Bed, Patriot Bed, Lachman bed (I love all their plants) Rogue bed (all the miscellaneous seedlings I've found) and a nursery for year olds.

Hi Thumb, I am with Fromky and Monique - hang in there with the photo posting! It really is - was! - a pain in the neck but I am so glad I hung in there. The help I am getting with IDing plants has proven invaluable.
Thank you for posting your hosta bed! It is sensational!! Here is my favorite (today, anyway) but I am going to try bigger spaces and plant more next to one another the way you have. Any other favorite companion plants? Lynne

Welcome! Your hostas are very beautiful. I have such a hard time with hostas because they are the food of choice for the snails.

Those pictures were such a delight to see. You both have an eye for plant placement. I'd love to see more.

Welcome to Gardebuddies, Candi. That is a beautiful hosta patch....quite a collection you have there. You look very organized with all the little metal tags. Something I have always wanted to do....we started but never got around to doing all the plants in the garden. Now I buy the little plastic stakes and write with permanent marker....which is not in the least bit permanent!!!!!!!!!!!!

Enjoy the site, and look forward to seeing more pics of your beautiful garden.

Gorgeous Hosta bed! I love seeing them all blended together. It shows off the differences in color and texture so well.

When I saw the title of this thread I thought you would be posting a hosta a day. What do you think? If our hosta specialists showed us a new one each day the rest of us would eventually learn our hosta P's and Q's.

Candy, I see you linked your picture from another site. You don't have to - you can upload directly onto the GardenBuddy server (much easier). Just click on the paper-clip icon in the row above the field where you write your text.

Thanks for the tip, Gardenfriend. When I get home this afternoon, I'm going to try that...should save a little money on the alcohol bill!
Did you see that tip, Sherri...we'll be waiting...........

I saw the tip and tried it but all my photos are apparently too big??? Is this because I use the "best" setting on the camera? I tried the resize tool on the toolbar but it wants to give me your Paul's Glory photo. Not that I don't wish that were mine since mine is not as pretty as yours. (need more sun I think)

I'll go take some shots on a lower resolution setting and see if that works.

Wish me luck...

Ok...it worked on the test page so here's hoping...

This is part of my first bed. Things are a little messy right now because I did some splitting last year and now I have bigger plants in front of smaller ones. The big gaping hole in front of the Dulce Peach Melba Heuchera is where my Tok. Flavio-Circ. was before a nasty varmint sucked it into the ground...

Hey Sherri, congratulations. Psssst...tell the truth, how many Margarita's did that take?

I recognize Night Before Christmas (a beauty), would that be Halcyon next to it? Possibly Patriot (or Minuteman, I convinced they're really the same plant), and Elegans? But what's the pretty one center front; is that Summer Music?
Sorry about the Tok...I lost a Halcyon and Fragrant Blue this year to voles.

LOL...No Margaritas...Iced Coffee instead. I guess I need that caffeine rush.
In the very back is Serendipity, then Iron Gate Delight next to Night Before Christmas. You can see Geisha (aka Ani Machi) peeking out next to Bressingham Blue with Christmas Tree next to that. You were right about Patriot and Summer Music. And Loyalist which is still tiny and growing slowly is visible next to Patriot.

Minuteman and Patriot do seem identical. The only difference I can see when I look at my two side by side is that the Patriot seems more vigorous.

It is like painting a beautiful picture with green... the wonderful blossoms are a huge bonus! Thanks for sharing. I agree with Gardenfiend - which one of you pros will post a "Hosta of the Day"?!

Hi candi - what a beautiful hosta bed! I just love that little one in there toward the center on the left side. OMG, that is so cute, those tiny leaves. What is the name of it? The light green one. I'm new to hostas, and that teeny one is a cutie.

The little gold in the center is Hydon Sunset. Because it's about 4 years old, that's probably it's adult size. Behind it (and now covering it) is Lakeside ChaCha; in front of it, to the left is Birchwood Parky's Gold to the right is Northern Exposure and lower right is Shade Fanfare. To the left behind ChaCha is Elegans, Antioch and the large one is another of my seedlings called "Dakota". It's definitely a Montana type, looking very similar to Frosted Jade, but with a different vein count and much larger (it's 61" in diameter and still going strong).
